Foldout is a single-player game of daily puzzles. It is designed to be offline-first: the puzzles are generated on your device or built from openly-licensed data, and everything you do in a puzzle stays on your phone. The one thing that can leave your device is optional, anonymous crash and usage reporting, which you can turn off at any time. This policy explains exactly what that means.
What stays on your device
- Your puzzle attempts, results, streaks and statistics.
- Your settings (theme, sound, haptics, assists).
None of this is uploaded to us or to anyone else. Your puzzle attempt history is also excluded from Android's cloud backup and device-to-device transfer, so it isn't copied off the device that way either.
What we collect (and only if you leave it on)
The app includes Google's Firebase Crashlytics (crash reporting) and Google Analytics for Firebase (usage measurement). These are on by default and can be switched off with a single toggle in Settings → Privacy & data (“Share crash reports & usage data”). When the toggle is on, the following is collected:

The events the app sends are a fixed, predefined set. The app never sends the contents of a puzzle, anything you type, your answers, your name, your email, your contacts, your precise location, or any other free-form or personal information.
What we never do
- We do not sell or share your data with third parties for advertising.
- There are no ads and no advertising SDKs in the app.
- We do not use an Advertising ID.
- We do not collect data to build a profile of you.
Your choice and control
You can turn collection off at any time in Settings → Privacy & data. Turning it off immediately stops both crash reporting and usage analytics, and the choice is remembered across restarts. Because there is no account and no server-side profile, turning the toggle off is the way to stop and prevent this collection — there is nothing stored under your name for us to look up or delete.
Children
The app contains no objectionable content and is suitable for all ages. It is not directed at children under 13 specifically, and it does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone. If crash/usage reporting is left on, only the anonymous technical data described above is collected.
Data processors
When reporting is on, the crash and usage data is processed by Google as part of Firebase. See Google's Firebase privacy and security information and the Google Privacy Policy for how Google handles this data.
Changes to this policy
If the app starts collecting anything new, this policy and the app's in-store data-safety information will be updated before that change ships, and the “last updated” date above will change.
